Dear Members, Athletes, and Supporters,
It is with immense pride and gratitude that I extend my heartfelt greetings as we celebrate the hundredth anniversary of Shree Mavli Mandal, Thane. Over the past 100 years since its establishment on 1st August 1925, our dedication to fostering sportsmanship and education has been unwavering, shaping the lives of countless individuals and contributing to the broader community.
Sports and education are intertwined pillars that form the foundation of our organization’s ethos. As we reflect on a century of achievements, we recognize the transformative power of sports in instilling discipline, teamwork, and resilience.
Through our commitment to athletic excellence, we have not only produced remarkable athletes but also individuals who carry these virtues into their personal and professional lives.
Equally significant is our emphasis on education. We firmly believe that a well-rounded individual emerges from a harmonious blend of physical prowess and intellectual growth. Our programs have aimed to support the educational aspirations of our members, ensuring that they not only excel on the field but also in the classrooms of life.
As we mark this historic occasion, let us recommit ourselves to the principles that have defined our organization for a century. Let sports continue to be a source of inspiration, a platform for the youth of Thane, and a vehicle for personal development. May education be the beacon guiding our members towards knowledge, enlightenment, and success beyond the realms of the playing field.
I express my deepest gratitude to all who have been a part of this remarkable journey, from the pioneers who laid the foundation to the current generation of athletes, educators, and supporters who continue to carry our legacy forward. Here’s to a century of sporting achievements, educational milestones, and the enduring spirit that defines us.

Shree Mavli Mandal, Thane

Shree Mavli Mandal is an organization established in the year 1925, by Late Shri Shankarrao Yadav and Late Shri Shankarrao Bhoir, who were extreme sports lovers. They took immense interest and established this organization for promotion of sports, gymnasium and cultural activities.
The organization is duly registered under the Public Trust Act (Registration No. A/39). In the year 1947, a vacant raw plot was purchased and activities such as gymnastics and other sports were started. The prime location of the plot was of greatest advantage, as it was convenient to youngsters, who were then attracted towards the activities of the organization. There was no looking back once they joined in, as they got permanently attached here and devoted their best for the organization. In the same year the organization started its own gymnasium.
Further, in the year 1952, the organization started organizing State Level Kabaddi Competition. By the year 1960, the organization felt necessary to have a separate office and a place for indoor activities. Hence, a building was constructed which includes its administrative office, a modern equipped gymnasium and a cultural hall.
The level of ground was raised by 3 feet’s to permanently avoid the disturbance in monsoon season. The ground has a 200 meters track, surrounded by fencing wall and trees. The organization imparts basic training of Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, (traditional National sports), atheletics, football, volleyball and hockey. The training is available at nominal fees. “Life Membership” is allotted to those youths who have been actively involved in all the organization activities and are giving the maximum efforts for achieving the goals set up by the organization for a period of alteast 10 years after joining the institution.

Our Story
-
Period (1925 - 1950)
This period marked the fight against British rule. Inspired youths like Shankar Narayan and Shankar Purushottam Bhoir formed the Mavli Mela to unite others and mobilize people against colonial oppression. They started a gym in 1926, promoted physical training and cultural activities, and eventually, in 1947, secured land in Thane to continue their efforts despite significant challenges, including financial and physical hardships.
-
Period (1951 - 1962)
In 1951, Mavli Mela became Shri Mavli Mandal, registered as a charitable trust. Despite multiple relocations, they established a building in 1951. Financial struggles persisted, leading to the sale of land and innovative fundraising, including plays and swimming fees. By 1956, the debt was cleared. The Shivjayanti festival started in 1951, featuring a hututu competition, and the organization steadily grew despite challenges.
-
Period (1962 - 2000)
Since 1962, a new generation gradually started taking part in the daily activities of the organization. By 1966, Sudhir Yadav, an accomplished athlete and leader, emerged, leading initiatives that strengthened the organization financially and structurally. With strategic fundraising, including showing films and organizing events, the organization built new facilities and paid off debts. A dedicated team ensured the organization’s growth and stability.
-
Period (2000 - 2024)
The institution, not satisfied with its achievements, aimed to start an English medium school. Despite challenges, including the untimely death of leader Sudhir Yadav, the dedicated team persevered. By 2005, the dream of their school was realized. They renovated the gymnasium with modern equipment in 2001 and have consistently supported sports and education, making significant contributions to the community.
